Dynaxibility4CE - Capacities for dynamic and flexible planning for low-carbon

mobility trends and policies in Central Europe

Newer forms of mobility, such as connected and automated driving, and MaaS ‘Mobility as a Service’, blur classic understandings of mobility options. Dynaxibility4CE will ensure the effective integration of these new mobility offers into Central European transport systems and policies by facilitating planning that is more dynamic and flexible.

The Interreg CE project Dynaxibility4CE aims to increase the ability of public transport authorities to deal with new mobility trends by developing strategies and tools that strengthen their planning capacities, thereby making them key actors for creating low-carbon and low-pollution mobility systems in cities and regions.

Dynaxibility4CE will support cities with the preparation, analysis and planning stage of their SUMP. This will include a focus on methodological tools, like air quality measurement, as well as training and knowledge platforms to meet the challenges of the cities. Therefore, public transport authorities in CE will be enabled to plan more dynamically and flexibly for emerging innovative mobility solutions for greener and cleaner mobility systems in Central Europe’s functional urban areas in the future.

The project promotes exchange between partners by providing opportunities to share knowledge, as well as different solutions to the common problem of pollution and the associated health risks in city centres.

Dynaxibility4CE’s outputs to improve low-carbon mobility planning capacities are linked to low-carbon mobility and clean air policies and will help to attain European goals  to halve conventional car use by 2030 and to reduce emissions by 60% by 2050, agreeing with the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement calling to reduce GHGs in the EU by at least 40%.

Our project is funded by the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE program, which encourages cooperation on shared challenges in Central Europe.


Redmint is leading the work package on "Strategies and Action Plans for planning for low-carbon mobility
trends and to improve air quality" and will help developing strategies on how to engage stakeholders in designing and planning services and networks according to new mobility trends like sharing, MaaS or CAD  building on methodologies for local engagement and codesign developed within the Shareplace project framework. Redmint will also work at the enhancement of the SUMP 2.0 approach on MaaS with specific focus on functional areas, supporting the application of MaaS principles, shared and flexible mobility not only in densely populated but also in low demand areas. Moreover, Redmint will support - together with PP11 ATE - the integration of the three conceptual policy foci of the project (CAD, MaaS, UVAR) into the action plan developments on FUA level, by extending the Living Labs concepts tested in Shareplace to the FUAs involved in the project.

EfficienCE - Energy Efficiency for Public Transport Infrastructure in Central Europe

EfficienCE is a cooperation project funded by the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE programme that aims at reducing the carbon footprint in the region. Most Central European cities have extensive public transport systems, which can form the basis of low-carbon mobility services. More than 63% of commuters in the region are using public transport. Measures to increase the energy efficiency and share of renewables in public transport infrastructure can thus have a particularly high impact on reducing CO2.

This is achieved by supporting local authorities, public transport authorities and operators by developing planning and financing strategies and action plans, implementing pilot actions, developing tools and trainings to plan and operate low-carbon infrastructure, and by transferring knowledge and best practices on energy-efficient measures across Central European regions.

Twelve partners, including seven public transport authorities/companies from seven countries are working together for three years to exploit the untapped potentials in this sector and to contribute to the EU’s ‘White Paper’ goals to cut transport emissions by 60 percent by 2050 and to halve the use of ‘conventionally fuelled’ cars in urban transport by 2030.


The project is supported by the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme funded under the European Regional Development Fund.


Redmint is leading the work package on capacity building, evaluation and development of a tool repository. Furthermore, is the main evaluation manager and – supported by all Project partners – develop an evaluation framework based on jointly defined energy performance indicators for the projects’ pilot actions. This also includes the development of an assessment model (based on CBA) for the potential impact of the integration of renewable energies, exemplarily used to support Bergamo’s action plan development gathering data and running simulations on the potential of RES integration, to evaluate the operational and environmental benefits generated by the pilots and their scaling up scenarios. Redmint supports the LP Leipzig with regard to the development of the EfficienCE’s tool repository for energy efficiency solutions for PT infrastructure, reviews the handbooks developed and supports Bergamo in organising a transnational workshop on the topic of integration of RES into charging infrastructure for e-bus systems.

eMOTICON, Technical Assistance

eMOTICON is a project of the Interreg Alpine Space Programme 2014-2020 and its objective is to contribute to the homogeneous diffusion of Electric Mobility throughout the Alpine Space, providing a transnational strategy for seamless use of electric vehicles and charging spots with an integrated approach supported by PAs. The strategy, based on best practices of interoperability and on a European roaming framework, will be used in planning Electric Charging Stations (E-CS)  with public access and will contribute to increase options for low carbon mobility in the AS.

In order to overcome the lack of interoperability of E-CS caused by a limited knowledge of technological options and business models potential as well as by the lack of harmonisation between planning instruments, e-MOTICON will foster an integrated approach to e-mobility, planning and operating of E-CS. It will increase the usability at Alpine Space level based on interoperable charging infrastructure, and forserinf innovative planning instrument that can be used across EU, also because it will be increased Pas’ knowledge and skills on the integrated planning tools.

SHAREPLACE

Transport systems in Central Europe often show a lack of integration between modes of transport, resulting in weak local, regional and transnational accessibility. Disparities in appropriate connections within and among centres of urbanization often contribute to an unbalanced territorial development.

The overall goal of SHAREPLACE is to develop an innovative approach to improve the connectivity of local, regional and transnational mobility systems. SHAREPLACE will be open to all types of passenger transport services and target groups. Initial development and testing will be carried out in six pilot regions: Bergamo (IT), Crema (IT), Fuschlsee-Mondseeland FUMO (AT), Osijek (HR), Ulm (DE) and Zalaegerszeg (HU). By implementing living labs and actively engaging stakeholders, transferable solutions for a more integrated, accessible and harmonized mobility system in six central European regions will be designed. These solutions will be supported by innovative business models and strategic guidelines for policy makers and planners

Redmint is supporting the LP AustriaTech with financial and project management as well as coordination activities, and is responsible for the thematic work package "Visions and strategies" for the consolidation of the SHAREPLACE vision on collaborative approaches and shared mobility validated through pilot experiences. Results of the project will be summarised in guidelines for mobility operators, planners and policy makers.

Furthermore Redmint is supporting Crema and Bergamo in their pilot activities as well as the transnational knowledge exchange between the six participating regions.

Summary

Local Sustainable Development Plan for the Chiomonte area

The study analyses the potential impact of the compensation and mitigation measures connected to the construction phase of the high speed railway line between Lyon and Turin on the area of Chiomonte.

Quantitative and qualitative assessment of durable development effects of investments and interventions at local level are performed according to a tailor-made methodology based on socio-economic impact assessment and multi-criteria analysis.

Final goal of the study is to identify objectives and evaluation criteria for local development actions in order to maximise the impact on local level in terms of sustainable development.

Summary

Feasibility study for service fleet renewal with electric vehicles

The study provides a detailed analysis of the characteristics of the existing fleet in order to analyse the potential for substitution with electric vehicles. After the verification of the technical conditions, a business plan for the adoption of electric vehicles on a large scale, including investment costs and generated benefits is developed in order to support the decisional process.
